GGHT ‘1st Steps to Trade’ pre-employment course for residents
Our Employment Initiatives Team has teamed up with procurement experts Fusion 21 to offer GGHT residents the opportunity to gain valuable qualifications and work experience to support them in successfully securing employment. 

As part of our on-going commitment to help tenants who face barriers to employment, the 1st steps to trade programme offers a range of courses including:
  • Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
  • Manual Handling
  • First Aid, Working at Heights
  • Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS). 

The participants  may also have the opportunity to complete a work placement with either GGHT or one of our partner companies.​  The programme is designed to address the skills and experience gap that would help people attain sustainable jobs. 

After completing the course attendees are supported by our Employment Initiatives Team in application skills, CV building and are also given mock interviews and tips. To book a place on the next course please email us or call us on 01925 452452 (ask for the Employment Team).

Start Something Useful – ‘internet skills and jobs’ sessions
Finding and applying for jobs can be tough, especially if you’re not sure how to use the internet to help you. GGHT are offering session on using a new internet based learning tool called “LearnMyWay” which helps you to look for jobs online and use the National Careers service website to find out which jobs you're most suited to. You'll also find some helpful hints and tips to calm your nerves if you have an interview! So come along and look for your dream job, update your CV and improve your skills for work – online.

The sessions are computer based and are supported by an employment advisor.  The session is intended to allow job seekers to feel confident with the internet facility which they can then go on to use in drop-in facilities or in their own homes. 
  • Bewsey - Bewsey Community Park Centre (Troutbeck Ave, Bewsey) - B.I.T.S (Bewsey IT Suite): Monday - Monday, 11am-1pm
  • Longford - Longford Community Café (86 Sandy Lane, Warrington, WA2 9HU): Tuesdays, 10am-12noon
  • Town Centre - The Gateway (85/101 Sankey Street, WA1 1SR): Thursdays, 1–3pm
